Ashtanga & Yin
Eleanor is quickly approaching her 10 year anniversary with Ashtanga yoga. Having discovered it in the city of Sydney and quickly taking a leap of faith to pursue it in the foothills of the Himalayas to learn more – she’s never looked back. Teaching since 2011, she is always humbled and inspired by her students, her true teachers, and is always on the quest to learn and question more.
Due to severe illness in 2012, Eleanor found the wonderful healing and soothing properties of Yin Yoga; a blessing on days when too fatigued for the energetic style of Ashtanga. Soon after, she found herself training with the founders of Yin Yoga, Paul and Suzee Grilley, to pass on this wonderful gift to others to use in harmony with the Ashtanga practice.
Over the years Eleanor has practiced and trained with some of the world’s best Ashtanga Yoga teachers; Kino Macgregor, John Scott, David Swenson, Richard Freeman and the late Michael Stone.
Currently Eleanor is practicing under the guidance of Matthew Sweeney and is taking a more holistic approach to teaching Ashtanga, tailoring it for the unique individuals that come along; honouring the body in the present moment whilst still respecting traditions of the past. Eleanor will be training further with Matthew in 2018 to learn his Moon Sequence to share with those who are open to utilising another Vinyasa Krama (sequence) to fall in line with the ebbs and flows of life.
To expand her edges just a little more, she is currently training to be a Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist and is undertaking courses in Anatomy and Physiology to offer a well-rounded and highly informed approach to physical therapy.
