This is the ‘Myth of Ageing’ and it is an extremely pervasive idea. This empowering 7 week course will give you some tools to help maintain or increase your physical well being, find more ease in your movements and help to reduce pain and discomfort.
Using the small, slow and subtle movements of Hanna Somatics, you can release habitual muscular holding patterns which often cause pain and discomfort. These focused movements allow your brain to change the deep-rooted movement patterns that your body has developed. By changing the neural pathways in the brain, you can begin to let go of painful movement habits.
Our muscular holding patterns come from the subconscious brain, which makes it difficult to create new ways of moving and standing using the conscious brain alone. For example, to ‘sit up straight’ or ‘stop slouching’ may be possible when you’re thinking about it, but very quickly your subconscious brain takes over and you find yourself slouching again.
Thomas Hanna designed this 7 week course to work through the different areas of the body and the muscles that control them. The techniques you will learn can make it possible – with practice – to reset these subconscious patterns and reduce ongoing pain and discomfort and maintain your physical ability as you age.
By the end of this course you will know a simple 15 minute routine which will gently release and realign your body.
