We want to make sure you attend the right class for you so if you are thinking of coming along to a yoga class at Bristol City Yoga we advise looking reading through our class levels before booking.
We welcome all abilities, from beginner to experienced, we also offer transitional classes for those looking to progress. Our experienced Yoga teachers are hand-picked with quality in mind, they will be able to ensure you practice safely and progress.
Classes suitable for all students, but not recommended for complete beginners. The groups will be mixed ability but our teachers will accommodate you and will offer different options to suit different levels of experience.
If you’ve never tried yoga before, have done a couple of classes, or have done the odd downward facing dog then these are the classes for you. If you’ve done some classes before, but haven’t been on a mat in years these classes will also be perfect.
You could also try our Intro to Yoga course, a 6-week course giving you the chance to try out the different styles of yoga that we offer with our experienced teachers. If you’ve done some Yoga before but want to gain confidence, then our Beginners Courses will give you the foundation you need.
Beginner to Improvers Classes (Beg – Imp)
If you’ve been attending classes for between 6 months – 2 years (depending how often you come) and are starting to get to grips with the basic poses, alignment and breathing principles – then try these classes. There will be a mix of beginners and those who are more experience and the teacher will offer different options to suit different levels of experience. Not suitable for complete beginners.
If you have been regularly attending class for 1 – 2 years (depending on how often you come) and are starting to understand the basic poses, alignment and breathing principles then these classes will suit you.
Improvers to Intermediate (Imp – Int)
If you have been attending classes regularly for 1 -2 years or more (depending how often you come). You’ll have a good understanding of basic poses, breath and alignment principles. These classes will have a mix of improvers and more experienced students and the teacher will offer different options to suit different levels of experience.
If you have an understanding of basic poses, breath and alignment principles and have been regularly practicing yoga in class and at home for around 2 years or more then these classes will suit you.
Intermediate – Experienced (Int – Exp)
Suitable if you have had an established practice for 2 – 3 years or more and a good understanding of a range of poses, breath, bandha and alignment principles then these classes will suit you. These classes will have a mix of intermediate and more experienced students and the teacher will offer different options to suit different levels of experience.
If you have had a steady and consistent practice for around 4 years or more, and perhaps have a meditation and pranayama practice, or are looking to establish one then these classes are perfect. Try an intermediate class before attending a class for experienced students.
Please do not attend classes which are above your level of experience as it won’t help you, the teacher or the other students.
